Proalg UF praised on TV: “We want to revolutionize the food industry”

Affärsgymnasiet company Proalg UF, represented by CEO Wilma Eriksson, was featured on Nyhetsmorgon for being awarded the Expo Foundation's grant for innovative business ideas. The company is also competing for the title UF Company of the Year in the UF National competition (Young Enterprise).

Proalg UF is one of 150 companies from across the country that has qualified for the UF National Championship by winning their regional final. They are now competing for the top prize in the category of UF Company of the Year.

Before the event, Wilma Eriksson, Affärsgymnasiet student and CEO of Proalg UF, was featured on TV4’s Nyhetsmorgon.

– We are developing a protein and nutrient supplement made from microalgae that we want to sell to food companies, she says in the segment.

The company’s self-produced nutrient pasta was showcased in the segment, and Proalg UF was presented as one of the companies awarded the Expo Foundation’s 300,000 kronor scholarship. The scholarship is given to innovative companies in need of resources to realize their ideas.

– We are researching to achieve a higher amount of protein from a smaller mass of microalgae. This makes it cheaper to extract the protein and reduces the environmental impact compared to meat production. The scholarship helps us to make this possible and test the additive in other types of food products, says Wilma.
