Elsa and Engla get the opportunity to apply their economic knowledge in practice.
September 25, 2024
Economics students Elsa and Engla are particularly engaged in Affärsgymnasiet's real-world learning approach. Combined with excellent support from teachers, valuable coaching sessions, and a supportive school environment, this has created a strong foundation for their learning. - We have a much better understanding now, they say.
Engla Gullberg and Elsa Vestman, second-year students in the economics program at Affärsgymnasiet Örebro, are gaining valuable insights into entrepreneurship and the economic aspects of society. Thanks to the project-based teaching, they are getting a more realistic understanding of the subject.
– In the business economics course, we’ve been working on sustainability within different companies. It’s been really fun to see how companies operate. I’ve gained a much better understanding than before, says Engla.
– I’ve learned a lot about economics and household management, which I find very useful, says Elsa.
Support from their teachers
This type of learning is alternated with classroom teaching, which works really well according to the two students – not least because of the support from the teachers.
– You can get help from any teacher, regardless of whether they teach your subjects or not, says Engla and continues:
– You don’t always have to go to your mentor. You can ask other teachers as well. Elsa agrees:
– Yes, you get really close to the teachers, they are almost like friends. It’s a great relationship.
Coaching time
In addition to daily contact with teachers, there are also opportunities for extra support. The school offers special times for additional help in specific subjects, which the students appreciate. – It’s a half-hour after school. On Tuesdays, there’s more focus on math, so all the math teachers are there. On Thursdays, it’s for other subjects. You can sit and study for tests or get help with other things. It’s really great, says Engla.
School spirit
So, what is it that binds all these elements together into a powerful whole? According to Elsa and Engla, it’s the school spirit. The biggest strength of the Business School is the atmosphere between students and teachers, as well as the vibe in the common areas.
– The atmosphere is fantastic, both within and between classes. I’ve never felt unsafe, says Engla. Elsa agrees and passes on the positive feeling to future students who might be nervous about starting a new school: – Relax. Everything will be fine. Things always work out here.
