Specialist Teacher Christian Passionate About Student Adaptation – Developed His Own Teacher Site
February 14, 2024
Christian Robertsson at Yrkesgymnasiet Malmö is deeply passionate about student adaptation and sharing knowledge about various support methods. To this end, he has developed his own teacher website and a toolbox that collects proven strategies. "It's an ongoing process of trying to find the best tools," Christian explains.
Yrkesgymnasiet is committed to systematic quality work and regular routines for collaboration with the student health team. As a specialist teacher, Christian Robertsson is deeply involved in these processes. Christian teaches English and, alongside his regular teaching duties, is dedicated to spreading knowledge about possible aids for a wide range of student needs:
“The best feeling is when a student says, ‘Wow, this support is new to us,'” he says.
Own Teacher Website
This year, the focus has been on identifying various needs and developing tools for students. One of these tools is Christian’s own-developed website. He created it for the school’s teachers to help them structure their school days more effectively. The site organizes all information in an efficient manner. Christian has received positive feedback from colleagues, and even students have shown interest in it. He believes something similar could work well for them too.
“We strive to stay one step ahead of each need or challenge that arises. It’s a constant process of trying to find the best tools,” he explains.
Among the latest tools showing positive effects is AI (artificial intelligence). It has been used to support students with linguistic vulnerabilities and has become a helpful aid in writing tasks.
“We’ve used it as an extra teacher. It’s not about letting AI do the students’ assignments for them,” Christian emphasizes, adding:
“There are also other tools we are currently testing. For example, tools that allow students with dyslexia to not only listen to texts but also read them using customized fonts.”
Toolbox with Methods
All effective methods are documented and saved for future needs. This way, the student health team, together with teaching staff, has developed a toolbox with concrete examples of support measures. The toolbox includes a selection of proven methods, allowing teachers to quickly overview and reuse strategies.
