Johan Skofteröd, ny verksamhetschef för Edukatos teoretiska gymnasier.

New Executive Director: Aims to Improve Teaching Quality, Safety, and Well-Being in Schools

As of May 27, Johan Skofteröd is the new operations manager for the theoretical high schools under ThorenGruppen. Previously, he served as the director of education and administration in Huddinge Municipality, overseeing 3,200 employees. – I’ve been managing teams for over ten years, with extensive responsibilities in recent years. With my strong educational background, I’m confident I can enhance the quality of teaching, safety, and overall well-being in the schools, Skofteröd says.

As the new operations manager for the theoretical upper secondary schools at Edukatus Alliance, Johan Skofteröd is responsible for Affärsgymnasiet, Umeå Sports Academy, Gymnasieakademin, and Tekniska Gymnasiet.

“It feels absolutely great. Edukatus Alliance is an exciting player with great potential,” he says.

Which of your experiences do you think will be most useful in your new role?

– I believe my experience as a director of education and as a chief education officer in three different municipalities will serve me well. In those roles, I worked across the entire educational spectrum, from preschools to adult education. Education is interconnected, and having a holistic perspective will be an advantage. Additionally, I’ve managed schools in diverse settings, so I’ve experienced a wide range of challenges and can act with a calm and informed approach, he says.

Johan Skofteröd has previously held positions such as chief of administration and head of schools in Lidingö, Sigtuna, and at Lärande i Sverige AB. He emphasizes that quality in education is about much more than meeting regulatory standards.

– Providing students with the best possible education is key. It’s not just about meeting the Swedish Schools Inspectorate’s requirements – that’s a given – but about ensuring students feel they are receiving high-quality teaching in a safe environment. Quality also involves creating a positive and stimulating work environment for teachers, principals, and school staff. For top-tier education to take place, teachers and leaders need to thrive in their roles and be given the best possible conditions to improve the quality of teaching, Skofteröd explains.
