Anton’s Path is Set – Already Employed Before Graduation | Edukatos
June 20, 2024
Anton is graduating from Yrkesgymnasiet Väsby with fond memories and an extra dose of happiness: he already has a job lined up. "Everyone usually says they're stressed, but for me, it's all calm," he says.
Many students have mixed feelings about graduation. There’s a lot of joy, but also concerns about what comes next. Going from three years of structure and routine to entering adulthood without a clear guide can be daunting.
However, this isn’t the case for Anton Krüger from Yrkesgymnasiet Väsby. Anton is graduating from the Electrical and Energy program, and his future is already mapped out.
“I’m just really happy. Everyone usually says they’re scared and stressed. But I’ve been an apprentice for two years, so for me, it’s more relaxed. I’ll keep doing what I’ve been doing, but now I’ll get paid for it.”
Employment through Apprenticeship
It’s the school’s apprenticeship setup that has allowed Anton to step directly into the workforce with a job secured at his APL (workplace-based learning) site. He feels that spending so much time at real companies has been perfect. Not only has it taught him the trade, but it’s also made him more mature.
“You take on more responsibility, especially when you’re out on construction sites. You can’t act childish, so you grow up faster,” he says.
Will Miss the Camaraderie
While he’s excited about his job as an electrician and looking forward to celebrating graduation with friends and family, Anton will carry many good memories from his time at school. What he’ll miss most is the sense of community, especially during school trips to museums or activities with the teachers.
“That’s when you get closer to each other and become friends.”
