About us

Edukatus Alliance was founded in 1999, initially under the name ThorenGruppen. The company organisation changed its name in September 2024, a few months after a change in ownership. The Edukatus Alliance operates preschools, primary and secondary schools throughout Sweden. We serve just over 11,000 preschool children and students across our operations. We currently have around 1 500 employees.

Edukatus Alliance is owned by Johan Nylén and Petter Samlin together with the board and management. The organization is led by CEO Ester Alavei, along with Deputy CEO Sofia Henderup Larsson, Chairman of the Board Fredrik Geijer, and board members Jytte Lindborg, Nils-Olof Ekholm, and employee representative Helen Burman. The owners, board, and management share a passion for knowledge development and have extensive expertise in pedagogy, law, and school leadership.

Edukatus Alliance has the following institutions:

Affärsgymnasiet – upper secondary schools focusing on economics, trade, and entrepreneurship where each student is prepared for further academic studies, work in the business world, or a career as an entrepreneur.

Tekniska Gymnasiet – upper secondary schools for science, technology, and mathematics. Theoretical and practical teaching equips students for the future.

Yrkesgymnasiet – vocational upper secondary schools where more than 50% of the education takes place in the workplace.

Gymnasieakademin – An upper secondary school in Gothenburg that maximises teacher presence and sets high expectations for students’ academic development.

För- och grundskolor – Preschools and primary schools that combine classroom teaching using active learning in nature and society, providing a solid foundation of knowledge and personal development for every student. These schools are transitioning from the Thoren Framtid name to more locally anchored names, but are all part of the Edukatus Alliance network of preschools and primary schools.

NBI/Handelsakademin – A vocational higher education institution that has educated thousands of individuals over 25 years in fields such as Business, Purchasing, Logistics, Economics, IT/Tech, and Construction and Civil Engineering.
