Hussein is in his first year of the Child and Recreation Program at Yrkesgymnasiet in Bor\u00e5s. When choosing a high school, he had heard that Yrkesgymnasiet was a good school and was drawn to the opportunity to spend more than half of his school time in practical training (APL). Today, he\u2019s completing his APL at Ekar\u00e4ng School, working with a preschool class. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
“I really enjoy it! I\u2019ve always liked kids, and this education provides a solid foundation for the future,” he says. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
In addition to spending time with the children at the preschool, Hussein also gets a glimpse into the life of a teacher, taking responsibility for parts of the lessons. However, his ultimate dream is to become a police officer, and he sees the Child and Recreation Program as a great first step toward that goal. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
“I get the chance to develop socially by learning how to interact with both adults and children. Plus, I\u2019m learning a lot about pedagogy, which is valuable for a police officer,” Hussein explains. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
Hussein is driven by the desire to help make Sweden a safer place and believes in the importance of diverse perspectives within the police force.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
“I\u2019m from Somalia, and I think it\u2019s important to have a mix of ethnicities within the police.
