Principal Martin Hultman on the School’s Successes: “This is the Greatest Achievement”
August 27, 2024
Award-winning students, strong unity, and educational accomplishments. With a long-standing tradition of good results, Yrkesgymnasiet Munkedal looks confidently towards the new school year.
Students at Yrkesgymnasiet Munkedal consistently achieve high results and are well-prepared for working life, which is not unique to just one specific year. On the contrary, it is part of the school’s educational philosophy and DNA.
When Martin Hultman, the school’s principal, reflects on the past school year, he notes a year marked by improved unity, personal student achievements, and pedagogical progress.
– We have combined several subjects and significantly increased subject integration (collaboration between different subjects, editor’s note), and during these lessons, we have been out in the community a lot, which the students have also appreciated, he says.
Strong Academic Results and Student Achievements
When the statistics for last year were compiled, it was clear that this year, too, was a successful one for Yrkesgymnasiet Munkedal. Over 90 percent of the senior students graduated with a diploma, a result far above the Swedish average, which stands at 75.9 percent for vocational high school programs. Additionally, around 95 percent of students had jobs waiting for them.
Beyond these numbers, Martin Hultman highlights some particular student achievements that stand out. For example, one construction student was awarded a scholarship of 10,000 kronor for their efforts, and vehicle and transport students obtained more driver’s licenses than before, despite challenges such as a shortage of driving test appointments.
– However, the greatest achievement is the students who succeed against all odds. Those who have faced difficulties but still fight through to earn both a diploma and a job, says Hultman.
Hopes for the New School Year
With these strong results behind them, Yrkesgymnasiet Munkedal looks forward to the new school year. Martin Hultman is determined to continue integrating and developing new students into the school’s long-standing tradition of success.
