Hattrick of Success at Astar Borås
August 30, 2024
With impressive results in their training programs for chefs, electricians, and network technicians, Astar Borås has established itself as a leading provider in adult education. The school’s success has been evident from the start, thanks to a clear pedagogical approach and close collaboration with the workforce.
Astar Borås educates electricians, network technicians, and chefs. Since its inception, the school’s results have consistently trended upwards.
The secret? According to Janet Brus, the school’s principal, the success stems from a clear structure and a well-functioning pedagogical concept.
– Our teaching is both theoretical and practical, meaning that our students switch between theory and practice daily, she says.
From Unemployed to Sought-After Chefs
The chef training program is designed as a labor market training course suitable for individuals who are far from the job market. At Astar, participants gain competitive skills and build connections in the industry through the school’s practical focus, which includes a significant amount of workplace-based learning (APL).
Additionally, the school operates its own restaurant – A Star Kitchen – open to the public. Here, participants learn exactly what it means to work in a restaurant.
– Since we started the restaurant 3.5 years ago, sales have continuously increased, says Janet Brus.
Excellent Results Across the Board
The electrician and network technician training programs have also quickly become profitable. The electrician training began in January 2023, and the network technician program started in September 2023. Regardless of the measure, the results are consistently positive.
– Our surveys indicate very satisfied participants, and we constantly have high demand for our spots during the intake periods in January and September, says Janet Brus, adding:
– Graduates from our programs either move directly into jobs or start their apprenticeship period, often at the same APL location where they completed their final months of training.
